What paperwork do I need to donate my vehicle in Alabama?
A title is required if you donate your vehicle in Alabama, unless it falls under one of the categories listed below. If you have lost the title, you can apply for a duplicate title by contacting the Alabama State Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division at: (334)242-9000. The fee for a duplicate title application is $15 and the normal processing time is two to three weeks. How do I release the liability of my donated vehicle in Alabama?
When donating your vehicle you must transfer the signed title with the vehicle in order to release your interest in the vehicle. The vehicle license plate must be removed and stays with the owner. What types of vehicles do not require a title in Alabama?
The following types of vehicles do NOT require a title in Alabama: Vehicles manufactured before 1975, all ATV's, snowmobiles and boats.
Where do I sign the title before donating my car in Alabama?

The Alabama vehicle title should be signed by the donor in the first section on the back of the title called "Assignment of Title by Registered Owner".
