Delaware Title Processing Information

I've got the title in front of me now where do I sign?:

Release ownership by signing on line 6, on the left bottom corner on the front of the title. If there is a lien on the vehicle the lien holder must sign and date the title lien release section where indicated.

Attached to the bottom of your Delaware Title is a Seller's Report of Sale which you will need to fill out and either bring to your local dmv or mail to:

Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles
Data Management Section
P.O. Box 698
Dover, Delaware 19903

I'm the registered owner but I can't find my title:

The registered owner(s) of a vehicle can apply for a duplicate title if the previous one has been destroyed, lost or stolen. You will need to fill out the MV213 Delaware Duplicate Title form and mail it to the address indicated.

If the Provider is unable to obtain the paperwork for a duplicate title, there are no titling options to dispose of the vehicle other than to abandon the vehicle to IAA relinquishing all rights to any proceeds of sale.

If you are unable to obtain a duplicate title and you wish to donate your vehicle, we can take care of the duplicate title process for you. You'll just need to fill out the forms below and hold them until the tow agent comes to pickup your vehicle.

Two completed Powers of Attorney (MV386) signed by all owners listed on the title (one to apply for the duplicate title and one to sign the duplicate title when it is received from the DMV). If the owner signs the duplicate title application (form MV213), only one signed POA (MV386) is needed.

Owner’s driver license number.

A signed odometer statement (for vehicles less than 10 model years).

Lien Release (if applicable).

The owner of the vehicle is deceased:

In the case of a one owner death: You will need a certified copy of the death certificate, a letter of administration from the Register of Wills, and a properly signed title by the administrator of the estate (for estates valued at less than $20,000).

In the case of a probated estate: You'll need a certified copy of the death certificate, notarized probate papers from the court, and a properly signed title by the executor of the estate.

The vehicle was abandoned on my property:

In most cases we can still pick up the vehicle, if we need paperwork from you it will be in the form of your signature on a short document describing the location where the vehicle was left and your request for us to remove it.
