Maryland Title Processing Information
I've got the title in front of me now where do I sign?:
Release ownership by signing on line 4 on the back of the title. If the vehicle is, or was financed, the lienholder’s name appears in the legal owner section and their release with counter signature is required in the "Lien Release" section.
Unless you plan on transferring your old vehicle's license plates to another vehicle, you must return them to your local Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) office.
I'm the registered owner but I can't find my title:
The registered owner(s) of a vehicle can apply for a duplicate title by filling out the Application for Duplicate Certificate of Title (form #VR-018). There is a $20 duplicate title fee. You can fill out the application online too.
Vehicles titled in Maryland can be sold as “Parts Only” with the use of a Indemnity Agreement Form (CS-081 form).
The owner of the vehicle is deceased:

In the case of a deceased person: Husband or wife will need a Death Certificate, original with raised Seal. Spouse will sign their name and the deceased name as the seller. If only one spouse appears on the title, you will need a Death Certificate and Letter of Administration.Other relatives; need Death certificate, original with raised seal, and a Letter of Administration with raised seal. The administrator will sign their name and the deceased persons name as the seller.
The vehicle was abandoned on my property:
