Nevada Title Processing Information

I'VE GOT THE TITLE IN FRONT OF ME, NOW WHERE DO I SIGN?

You sign on the middle of the page, line 1, over the "signature of authorized agent" section.

Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability:

If you do not intend to transfer the plates to another vehicle, you must surrender them to the DMV within 30 days of your vehicle being sold. Bring the plates to any DMV office. Or, if you prefer, mail the plates, along with a letter requesting cancellation, to the address below.

  • Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Central Services Division
  • 555 Wright Way
  • Carson City, Nevada 89711-0700

Be sure to include your address and phone number in your cancellation letter for the DMV to more easily verify your information. For any other information you can contact your DMV.

If you can't get a duplicate title you can apply for the Proof Of Ownership Title Procedure by completing the  Insurance Company Affidavit without Endorsed Title (RD-236) and you will need to produce proof of 2 attempts to contact the registered and legal owner (who holds the title) via certified mail. There two attempts must have been made at least 15 days apart. If all other attempts fail you can conduct a lien of sale process.

I'm the registered owner but I can't find my title:

If an original Nevada Certificate of Title has been lost, stolen or mutilated, a duplicate title may be applied for 30 days after the certificate of title was issued. You can apply for a duplicate title by filling out an affidavit of loss Form RD-206. Also the Application for Duplicate Nevada Certificate of Title must be submitted.

If you don't want to obtain a duplicate title and simply want to donate your vehicle but you don't have the title you can have us complete the duplicate title process for you by filling out the forms below.

The owner of the vehicle is deceased:

In the case of no probate proceedings:  The surviving spouse or next of kin can transfer
ownership with an Affidavit for Transfer of Title for Estates under $20,000 (RD-24). The Affidavit for Transfer can only be used if the deceased’s estate is valued at less than $20,000 and 40 days have elapsed since their death. You would also need a certified copy of the death certificate and a properly signed title by the surviving spouse or next of kin.

In the case of a probated estate: It is required that you have a certified copy of the death certificate, notarized
probate papers from the court/notarized letters of administration, and a properly signed title by the executor of
the estate.

The vehicle was abandoned on my property:

We can only pick up an abandoned vehicle if we are able to obtain a signature from the last registered owner.
